My desire is to help you manage sexual issues and improve your relationships using talk therapy, a nonjudgmental stance, and humor. I enjoy working with individuals as well as couples.
The relationship with a therapist is the most important element to successful therapy outcomes, more than technique or theory. My role as a therapist is to provide a safe place to openly discuss your inner thoughts. It takes courage to enter counseling. My office will be a safe place.
One of the most common sex therapy struggles I see is a difference in libido/sex drive. Many times it is the man with a lower libido than the woman, which can be especially troubling for the couple. I look at improving low libido from a mind and body perspective. Our largest sex organ is our brain. Many times, sexual interaction and behavioral patterns have developed that cause distress for the couple. These patterns need to be deconstructed and replaced with realistic behaviors.
Sex therapy is TALK therapy centered on the intimate thoughts, behaviors, patterns, and history of your sex life. Sex therapy has no exams, no nudity, and no sexual contact. I am comfortable talking about sex and I want to help my clients be more comfortable talking with their partner about sex.
Everyone is a sexual being and everyone has sexual problems at some point in their life. You are not alone and I can help. I can help untangle sexual problems at their core~ from childhood misunderstandings to sexual technique to adult connection problems. Sex therapy can answer questions and provide sex education. Couples counseling goes hand in hand with sex therapy as physical and emotional intimacy are intertwined.
I have 18 years of experience working with a wide range of issues in addition to sex therapy including depression, anxiety, grief, premarital counseling, anger management, couples counseling, addiction, deciding to divorce or not, and infidelity recovery.
